Strada dei Parchi to improve traffic management has engaged in a series of activities in order to make the transit of its travelers along the A24 and A25 highways safe , fast and comfortable.
On our network, daily worksites deal with the following activities:
- Pavement resurfacing and maintenance, including anti-kink (drainage) asphalt
- Maintenance of safety barriers (side guardrails and traffic islands)
- Restoration of degraded concretes of artifacts (walls, bridges, viaducts, etc…)
- Mowing of green areas and repaving of road markings
- street cleaning and appurtenances
The 5 management standards
- planning during periods with less traffic (under heavy traffic conditions, work is suspended and the generally closed lane is reopened to ensure worker safety)
- Removal of construction sites during exodus periods and weekends
- 24-hour shift work on routes with the most traffic
- prior communication of impactful construction sites
- work only at night on routes near major urban areas (Rome and Tivoli).
The road system at the toll booths
There are toll booths on average every 11 km. Our efforts focus on the following objectives:
- Monitoring, operation and maintenance of toll collection facilities;
- Increase in the number of inbound and outbound dedicated toll gates (+80, compared to 2008);
- Reduction of waiting time when requesting assistance;
- Expanding the number of gates in toll gates or transforming them to allow flexible management according to traffic conditions.
Thanks to these interventions, queues at toll booths have been greatly reduced.
Emergency management
Strada dei Parchi and the Traffic Police jointly coordinate emergency response activities for traveler assistance and traffic safety. Strada dei Parchi shall ensure the timely arrival of its personnel and emergency vehicles to restore traffic conditions and activate all communication channels to inform Customers.
In 80% of cases, restoration of circulation occurs within an hour of reporting.
Winter operations
In 2005, a Protocol was established between the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and the Ministry of the Interior, Aiscat, Anas and the Haulers’ Associations, which stipulates, as is already the case in the rest of Europe, that in the event of heavy snowfall, trucks will be temporarily stopped in specially designated areas.
Winter severe weather road management also includes:
- A corporate endowment of 238 vehicles and special equipment
- The continued availability of 490 internal and external staff
- Solid and liquid flux treatments for ice prevention
- The timely deployment and satellite tracking of snow removal vehicles.
