Abruzzo, Giro d’Italia doubles up with Giro-E

It’s on! The 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia will kick off on May 4, 2024. The pink race includes 3,400.8 km of total route with 44,650 meters of elevation gain.

Starting in Venaria Reale (TO) and finishing in Rome, the 21 stages of the competition include as many as four locations in Abruzzo (Prati di Tivo, Martinsicuro, Avezzano, Francavilla al Mare), traversed by the athletes who aspire to occupy the podium of Primoz Roglic, winner of the last edition.

Also on May 4, 2024, the sixth edition of the Giro-E ENEL 2024, which since 2019, with the exclusive formula of the e-bike experience on the roads and days of the Giro d’Italia, is an ambassador of active tourism and sustainable mobility, not only on two wheels. It is a competition riding electric bicycles, included as a cycling tourism event in the calendar of the Italian Cycling Federation. It will touch 20 stages for a total of 1,165.6 km with an elevation gain of 19,850 meters.

L’Aquila – Parti di Tivo and Casalbordino – Francavilla al Mare: these will be the two stages that will make the Green Heart of Italy beat. The first, 62.8 km and 1,800 meters of elevation gain, a real tour de force, is suitable for experienced and trained athletes. The second, of 58.5 km and 300 meters of elevation gain, on the other hand, is dedicated to enthusiasts who plan to pedal while admiring the landscapes of Abruzzo.

Nineteen teams will participate in the Giro-E. The Toto Group, with parent company Toto Holding, will actually accompany Team Enjoy Abruzzo, the region’s representative team, captained by Alessandra Fior and Davide Cassani.
