TheAbruzzo Winter Race, an event organized by the president of the Abruzzo Drivers Club, Felice Graziani, with the ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano, which brings together olte 200 clubs throughout Italy, with more than 200,000 members) that aims to promote the scenic and cultural beauty of Abruzzo, returns to the roads of Marsica.
The initiative, now in its fourth edition, will this year see a large number of participants, 60 crews from all over Italy and abroad, driving classic cars on a route of more than 80 kilometers . A caravan of motorsports legends, produced during the 20th century by more than 18 racing teams, including Maserati, Porsche, Autobianchi, Citroen, Saab and Austin Haley, for a skills course through the enchanted landscapes surrounding the Fucino Basin.
Appointment on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m., at the Hotel Olimpia in Avezzano, with departure at 2 p.m., to warm up the engines on the hairpin bends of Mount Salviano and reach the Shrine of Our Lady of Pietraquaria. From here the competition will touch Cappadocia and Camportondo, with a final stop in the village of Scurcola Marsicana.
The cars will be back on the road on Sunday 25, starting at 9 a.m., with an initial stop in Trasacco, where it will be possible to visit the 13th-century Basilica of Saints Cesidio and Rufino, the Muzio Febonio Tower and stop to taste typical Fucino products. The 60 crews will then take the Circonfucense road again until they reach Ortucchio, touring around the lake and the castle, then speeding toward the Nucleo Industriale of Avezzano and concluding the competition in Piazza Risorgimento, where the cars will finally be admired by the enthusiasts who have flocked for the event.
A now traditional event, which has been renewed for 12 years between winter and summer, not to be missed by four-wheel enthusiasts and go to discover some of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
