On March 22 and 23, at the 33rd edition of this unmissable event, Italy unveils its hidden treasures, inviting us to rediscover the charm of our landscape and cultural heritage. This year the appointment is even more special, as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Fund for the Italian Environment.
For those traveling between Rome and Abruzzo, the A24 and A25 highways can be the starting point for an unforgettable journey to discover extraordinary places. From Rome to Tivoli to the villages and art cities of Abruzzo, FAI Days offer a range of opportunities for all tastes.
Rome and Tivoli: a plunge into history and nature
Starting in the Eternal City, you can begin with a visit to one of the most magnificent and important 16th-century buildings in Rome, a magnificent palace that has seen the work of architects of the caliber of Michelangelo, Sangallo the Younger, Vignola and Giacomo Della Porta. We are talking about Palazzo Farnese in Campo de’ Fiori, the quintessential Renaissance palace.
A short distance from Rome, Tivoli enchants with its Villa Gregoriana, a place where nature, history and archaeology come together in a perfect union. The villa’s park, with its English garden and scenic Aniene waterfall, offers a spectacle of rare beauty that has inspired numerous artists over the centuries.
Abruzzo: a treasure of villages, palaces and spirituality
Continuing the journey to Abruzzo, the FAI Days lead us to discover historic villages, palaces, churches and other places of great interest. This is a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the authentic soul of this region, rich in traditions and surprising cultural heritage.
In the province of Chieti: the Castle of Semivicoli, in Casacanditella, where it is also possible to participate in a Sommelier Tour, and in Casalbordino the Benedictine Library, with an exclusive visit to the ancient section, the Madonna dei Miracoli, Palazzo de Arcangelis, Palazzo Donato Tiberio, Palazzo Magnarapa, a historical-architectural itinerary in the ancient village and Villa Lanza. In Crecchio you can visit Stories of Families and Palaces, while in Lanciano you can admire Corso Roma: Palazzi a Confronto, I Tesori Ritrovati, Il Liberty Lancianese tra Palazzi e Progetti, the Via delle Lavandaie: Storie di Acque e di Terre, Lanciano Sotterranea and the Strade dei Dipinti, degli Affreschi e dei Murales.
In the province of L’Aquila: in Aielli you can visit Aielli Stazione Novecento and Borgo Universo – The Future of the Universe, in Collarmele the Collarmele Station, and in Assergi (L’Aquila) the Gran Sasso Spa Tunnel and the Borgo di Assergi with the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. In Scanno one can discover the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, Palazzo di Rienzo, Lake Scanno, and the artistic beauty of the village.
In the province of Pescara: Loreto Aprutino reveals L’Antica Lauretum, the Church of Santa Maria in Piano, the ancient treasures of the village and the Ligustri Park.
