Strada dei Parchi’s snow men, simple people with a great sense of responsibility, love their jobs, drive heavy snow trucks and man the A24 and A25 highways.
The snow team in heavy storms works continuously for up to 12 hours. It includes 29 auxiliary and 35 salaried workers, while another 100 are outside helpers. When they go out with a vehicle, the two drivers take turns driving so that they are always alert and attentive during snow removal operations. Strada dei Parchi is like a home for the members of the snow team, and their sense of responsibility also drives them to extend their shifts in case of need and emergencies. Those who drive the snowploughs face enormous difficulties and do not panic in adverse weather conditions, the strong team spirit and cooperation among colleagues helps to achieve goals that often seem impossible.
INTERVIEW WITH FRANCO PAPPALARDO, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICE PARKS ROAD
We met with driver Sandro Acitelli, 48, from L’Aquila, who has been driving Strada dei Parchi vehicles for 25 years. We asked him what adjectives best describe the human side of his job; he replied, “safety and security.” These are precisely the characteristics that continuously ensure the connection and viability of the A24 and A25 highways. As Acitelli recounts in the interview, this year, thanks to clement weather, there were fewer urgent interventions with snow vehicles than in past years.
