On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the National Day of Walking Among the Olive Trees, now in its ninth edition, returns. Promoted by theNational Association of Oil Cities, the initiative involves more than 150 Italian cities in a widespread event celebrating the olive landscape, rural culture and the universal value of peace.

The walk follows routes of 2, 5 or 7 kilometers, designed for families, trekking enthusiasts, cyclists and horseback riders. Each route is immersed in historic and natural landscapes, with stops at oil mills, olive farms and ancient villages, where you can taste extra virgin olive oil and typical local products.

Among the planned activities:

  • New oil tastings
  • Educational workshops for children
  • Hiking, biking, or horseback riding
  • Meetings with local farmers and producers

From the hills of Tuscany to the landscapes of Puglia, passing through Abruzzo, Sicily and Lazio, the Camminata tra gli Olivi is an opportunity to rediscover the territory, enhance the olive-growing civilization and promote slow and conscious tourism.

Among the participating Abruzzo localities, Fossacesia stands out for its commitment to the enhancement of its olive-growing heritage. The municipality has launched a public notice to involve citizens, associations and schools in organizing the event, with a program full of experiential and cultural activities open to all.

Fossacesia has always been a symbol of Abruzzo’s olive-growing excellence, with ten active olive mills and an olive supply chain of the highest quality. The local itinerary includes:

The 2025 theme, “Let’s Cultivate Peace.”

In a world marked by tensions, the olive tree becomes a symbol of unity, resilience and hope. This year, each participating community will plant an olive tree as a concrete gesture of peace. The message will culminate onNov. 11 at the Hiroshima Peace Park, where an Italian olive tree, a symbol of dialogue among peoples, will be planted.
