Those men who worked for years in the bowels of the Gran Sasso.<\/strong> With their labor and their hands they created one of Italy’s greatest works, the longest double-bore tunnel in Europe. Their testimonies, charged with emotion, including the memory of those comrades who did not make it, gives us back a piece of our country’s history. <\/p>\n

THE EXCAVATION<\/strong> was carried out in full section using the traditional system with theuse of explosives <\/strong>and 7-arm jumbo drills, except in the fault-crossing areas, where the advance was preceded by a small tunnel and half-section excavation techniques.<\/p>\n
