They became massively widespread in the first half of the 19th century, and were made from a mixture of earth and straw, certainly the least expensive at the time. Today earthen houses are isolated episodes in the Abruzzo countryside, witnesses of a peasant memory<br \/>\nOften abandoned or reduced to ruins, they are a world architectural heritage and a dying world to be visited as soon as possible.  <\/p>\n<p>But the village nestled in the foothills of the Maiella is also the starting point for a new travel experience through seven municipalities, included between the two sheep-tracks that ran from Abruzzo to Puglia.
