\"\" Sulmona is preparing to experience one of the most anticipated events of the Abruzzo summer: the XXIX edition of the Giostra Cavalleresca<\/strong><\/a>, scheduled for July 26 and 27, 2025<\/strong>. An event that has its roots in the Renaissance and every year transforms the city into a stage of excitement, chivalrous challenges and civic pride. <\/p>\n

The 2025 edition is distinguished by its international scope: from July 18 to 20<\/strong>, Sulmona will host the Joust of Europe and the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy<\/strong>, with delegations from across the continent and the Mediterranean. The Jubilee of the European Joust<\/strong>, celebrated July 18 in the Cathedral of San Panfilo, will kick off a week of celebration, culture and dialogue among peoples <\/p>\n

Leading the historical procession will be actress Carlotta Natoli<\/strong>, as Queen Joan of Aragon<\/strong>, in period dresses made by fashion designer Alessandro Pischedda<\/strong>. The Palio 2025<\/strong>, painted by Sulmonese artists Diego and Daniela Facchini<\/strong>, depicts a knight, a lady and the city’s iconic aqueduct, a symbol of the city. <\/div>\n

The Joust of Chivalry is not just a historical reenactment, but a true community event<\/strong>, where flag-wavers, drummers, figures and knights compete in tests of skill and precision. Piazza Garibaldi is transformed into a medieval arena, where the past meets the present in an atmosphere charged with suggestion: the Borghi<\/em> and Sestieri of<\/em> Sulmona compete in the field of Piazza Maggiore (today p.za Garibaldi) represented by the Knights,<\/em> who compete in a unique ring joust. The competition is preceded by a sumptuous procession in Renaissance costume led by Queen Giovanna D’Aragona<\/em> and composed of ladies, knights, armigers, flag-wavers and trumpet players, who will perform scenic renditions to the delight of the audience attending the tournament. \"\"<\/p>\n

Once again this year , the Jousting Cultural Association<\/em> reaffirms its full commitment to the respect and welfare of animals: in fact, the use of spurs and whips have been banned for years.<\/p>\n

Also new this year were a mural unveiled in the Jousting Headquarters, representing a bridge between the past and the future, and the Cordesca<\/strong>, the children’s joust, which took place on May 31 and June 1, involving city schools in an educational and playful journey.<\/p>\n

Also partnering with the event this year is Toto Holding<\/strong>, an Abruzzo-based business that enhances the culture and identity of the region.<\/p>\n
