The A24 and A25 highways pass through some of the most geologically and climatically complex territory in Italy. The viaducts of the A24 highway in the provinces of Teramo and L’Aquila, where current work is concentrated, are structures that support thousands of transits a day, including commuter and tourist flows, including heavy vehicles carrying goods essential to the economy of central Italy. <\/p>\n
For optimal management of construction sites and to continue to ensure basic mobility needs between two regions in Central Italy, we evaluate all possible options when scheduling construction sites:<\/p>\n
\n- Full closure at night, consistent with the needs of the alternative road system;<\/li>\n
- work only on weekdays whenever possible: this is a solution that can prolong work for months, increasing the overall impact;<\/li>\n
- mobile construction sites: not possible for all construction sites, due to the structural nature of the work, which involves the removal and replacement of the roadway in some places, as well as fixed installations that cannot be disassembled and reassembled on a daily basis, consistent with the needs of the work and also with the safety of the workers, who are often engaged in complex and articulated activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Aware that maintenance and modernization works are essential to ensure the safety and functionality of our A24 and A25 highways, we are equally aware of the impact they can have on your travel. For this reason, where possible, we have designed a dynamic schedule<\/strong>: a special scheduling of worksites related to urgent and non-postponable works, and a scheduling of work phases designed to accommodate the main traffic flows. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Dual carriageway reopened on 1.7 km stretch<\/strong> between Tornimparte and L’Aquila Ovest<\/strong><\/h3>\nAs of Friday, June 13, a long section of the A24 highway has been reopened on dual carriageway<\/strong> in the Lucoli plain between the Tornimparte and L’Aquila West exits near the Fornaca Viaduct<\/strong>, with new earthquake-proof infrastructure on two carriageways. Vehicles that were diverted two-way on the eastbound carriageway (L’Aquila direction) have returned to traffic on both carriageways for their respective directions on the two lanes<\/strong>. Only a temporary reduction remains on the overtaking lane on the right carriageway (L’Aquila-Teramo direction). <\/p>\nThe roadway interchange between km 88+000 and km 92+100<\/strong> remains, where two-way traffic is planned for both directions on the eastbound carriageway to allow the completion of the earthquake-proof upgrade of the Cerqueta, Le Pastena and Monito viaducts in the westbound direction.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/www.stradadeiparchi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/M.Straordinarie-CANTIERI-VARI.jpg\")

Gran Sasso Tunnel: safe transit on only one lane in each direction<\/strong><\/h3>\nIt should be recalled that the special restrictions on vehicular transit in the Gran Sasso Tunnel<\/strong>, adopted to avert potential interference of vehicular traffic with the complex hydrogeological system of the aquifer, were ordered by ordinance on May 20, 2019<\/strong>, concerted with all the entities in various capacities responsible, and were the only expedient that allowed the Tunnel to remain open and transitable until today, pending the definition of the interventions to prevent this situation, entrusted to a special commissioner structure.<\/p>\nThe restrictions, effective in 2019, include:<\/p>\n
\n- A single lane<\/strong> open to vehicle transit for both directions;<\/li>\n
- the overtaking lane of the eastbound carriageway (Teramo direction) intended for emergency vehicles for accident intervention;<\/li>\n
- the westbound carriageway lane (L’Aquila direction) designated for emergency vehicles to intervene in accidents;<\/li>\n
- 60km\/h speed limit<\/strong> for all vehicles;<\/li>\n
- No overtaking<\/strong> for all vehicles;<\/li>\n
- Minimum distance of 100 meters<\/strong> between vehicles mandatory for all.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The aim is to minimize the impact on traffic and promote greater fluidity during different time slots, depending on the main expected flows. <\/p>\nHere are the details of the new organization, divided into three time slots:<\/p>\n
Band 1:<\/strong> from 2 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday:<\/p>\n\n- Two lanes<\/strong> will be available for Teramo-bound<\/strong> traffic.<\/li>\n
- One lane<\/strong> (the travel lane<\/strong> ) will be available for traffic heading toward L’Aquila<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Band 2:<\/strong> From noon on Sunday until midnight on Monday:<\/p>\n\n- One lane<\/strong> (the travel lane<\/strong> ) will be available for Teramo-bound<\/strong> traffic.<\/li>\n
- Two lanes<\/strong> will be available in the direction of L’Aquila<\/strong>, accessible via an interchange that will guide you on two separate roadways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Band 3:<\/strong> From midnight on Monday and for the rest of the week:<\/p>\n\n- Two lanes<\/strong> will remain for Teramo-bound<\/strong> traffic.<\/li>\n
- One lane<\/strong> (the passing lane<\/strong>, open to traffic) will remain for traffic heading toward L’Aquila<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
