Videomakers, graphic designers, copywriters, PR, social media managers, audio and video technicians, typographers, computer scientists , and then again journalists, media workers, newspaper executives and directors, board members , and so on: from Jan. 24 to 26, Rome welcomes professional figures from the world of Communication for a major jubilee event.
Last Dec. 24, the Holy Father officially opened theHoly Year with the Opening Rite of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica which was followed by the opening of the Holy Door in the Rebibbia Prison and then the Opening of the Holy Door of St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major and St. Paul Outside the Walls.
Over a period of twelve months, Jubilee 2025 contains a full calendar of Major Events with a whole series of “dedicated” Jubilees, and in the three-day event at the end of January, it is the turn of Communication.
It begins on Friday 24 with an international Mass on the feast of St. Francis de Sales in the Basilica of St. John Lateran.
On Saturday 25 there is the Pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter’s, the cultural meeting “In Dialogue with Maria Ressa and Colum McCann“ moderated by Mario Calabresi, a performance by Maestro Uto Ughi and at 12:30 p.m. the meeting with Pope Francis in thePaul VI Hall.
There are several themed meetings in the afternoon:
“Journalism as a mission, giving voice to the voiceless in the outskirts of humankind in the Lateran Palace, “Journalism at the service of democracy” in the headquarters of the Order of Journalists, “Communicating Hope and Peace” in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, “From competition to collaboration. New media as vectors of hope for youth in a conflicted world. ” in the Basilica Regina degli Apostoli at Montagnola, “Comment les médias catholiques peuvent-ils être acteurs de paix?” in the church of St. Louis of the French, “Telling the Church from Rome. Meeting with vaticanists ” in LUMSA’s Jubilee Hall.
On Sunday, 26, it was Pope Francis who closed the Jubilee of the World of Communication in St. Peter’s Basilica by presiding at the “Word of God Sunday” Mass.
