Bobbin work, lacework, and embroidery have been Abruzzo’s excellences for at least six centuries. This long and noble tradition is still alive today especially in the province of L’Aquila.
Not only in the capital city, but also in the surrounding villages, bobbin lace and other lace crafts are a heritage of knowledge and culture. A silent and continuous spinning that unites the stories, homes and lives of people.
Simona Iannini is a master of L’Aquila lace-making. We met her at the Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo to meet her and have her tell us the secrets of this timeless art.
