The Center Celebrates Its 40th Anniversary in Torre de’ Passeri with Arrostiland

Torre de’ Passeri is getting ready to host “Centrissimo, the major event organized to celebrate the 40th anniversary of *Il Centro*, Abruzzo’s historic daily newspaper. On Saturday, August 1, the heart of the town will host a special day combining news, culture, entertainment, and cuisine, thanks to the return of Arrostiland, one of the region’s most beloved events.

The initiative promises to transform Piazza Giovanni XXIII into a lively gathering place where journalism, entertainment, and Abruzzo traditions will come together in one big celebration open to residents, readers, and visitors.

Special Guests for the 40th Anniversary of Il Centro

The evening will be hosted by Luca Telese, editor-in-chief of *Il Centro*, who will take the stage alongside numerous leading figures from the worlds of journalism, culture, and entertainment.

Expected guests include Antonio Padellaro, founder of *il Fatto Quotidiano*; Sergio Rizzo, journalist and co-author of the bestseller *La Casta*; Arianna Farinelli, an expert on U.S. politics and society; and the writer Dacia Maraini. The program will also feature some of Abruzzo’s most acclaimed artists, including Setak, Enrico Melozzi, and Laga Brigante, as well as the famous comedian ’Nduccio, a symbol of regional comedy.

Arrostiland 2026: The Flavors of Abruzzo Take Center Stage

While information will be the focus of the event, gastronomy will be its natural complement. As the organizers point out, “information is best absorbed on a full stomach,” and for this reason, the areas dedicated to food will offer a wide-ranging exploration of the finest traditional dishes of Abruzzo.

At the food stands, visitors will be able to sample local specialties—from the ever-present rustelle to regional wines—in an experience that highlights Abruzzo’s culinary identity and traditions.

Popular and Lively Games: The Tradition of Arrostiland

There’s also great anticipation for the elements that have always defined Arrostiland. The Arrostigames are back—the traditional folk games that bring together young and old alike—and, above all, the famous “greggi,” the cheerful groups of friends who take part in the event by choosing a witty and original name for their group each year.

An event that, over the years, has become a symbol of community and togetherness, drawing thousands of people from all over Abruzzo and beyond.

An exhibition chronicling 40 years of history and current events

Among the most significant events at “Centrissimo” is a special exhibition that traces the history of the newspaper through 40 front pages of *Il Centro*, from 1986 to the present.

The exhibition will take visitors on an exciting journey through four decades of news, politics, sports, culture, and major events that have shaped the history of Abruzzo and Italy.

How to get to Torre de’ Passeri: Take the A25 Casauria-Torre de’ Passeri exit

Getting to the event is easy thanks to the town’s strategic location. Torre de’ Passeri is easily accessible via the A25 highway, using the Casauria–Torre de’ Passeri exit.

The town center is just a few kilometers from the highway exit, providing quick and convenient access for visitors coming from Pescara, L’Aquila, Chieti, Sulmona, and the rest of Abruzzo.
