Infrarob, the “pothole capping rover” for infrastructure maintenance

Let’s learn about InfraROB, the experimental project that marks a breakthrough in innovation applied to infrastructure maintenance.

InfraROB is a prototype autonomous robot developed as part of the European Horizon 2020 program, in collaboration with the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and with the operational support of Strada dei Parchi, which provided a highway area for field testing.

In the video, it is possible to take a close look at the operation of the “pothole capping rover” and listen to insights from Engineer Luca Bartoccini, Civil Works Area Manager of Strada dei Parchi, and Prof. Paola Di Mascio of the Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering, who explain the project’s goals, results and future potential.

The intent is clear: to test technologies that increase the safety of operators, and therefore users, make maintenance more efficient, and reduce the environmental impact of interventions. InfraROB is still at the prototype stage, but it already demonstrates how the synergy between academic research and highway concessionaires can generate concrete solutions for safer and more sustainable mobility.
