It is called Supra 4002 and it is the new turbo tiller from Strada dei Parchi. This state-of-the-art machine, designed by Schmidt, is designed to efficiently remove large amounts of snow, combining operational efficiency and environmental friendliness. The Supra 4002 provides precise and fast snow clearing, with throw distances of up to 35 meters and a low-emission drive system. A strategic asset for coping with winter on a mountain highway.
In fact, we remind you that from November 15 to April 15, on the A24 (from Tivoli to Teramo) and A25 highways, it is mandatory to have winter tires or chains on board. Strada dei Parchi is ready with a team of about 500 people and more than 200 vehicles, including spreaders, blades, waterers and cutters, to ensure the safety and efficiency of the winter road system.
The Snow Plan, shared with the Traffic Police Service, Prefectures and local governments, includes 14 Snow Posts strategically located on the more than 280 km of highway network. These are equipped with a variety of operational means and stocks of saline fluxes, including about 8,000 tons of sodium chloride, 600 tons of rock salt in silos, and 500 tons of calcium chloride in solution. In particular, on the section between L’Aquila Ovest and Tornimparte, Firestorm, a mobile tanker for the preparation and distribution of calcium chloride solutions at 60°C, which is essential for handling the most demanding conditions on the route, is in operation. With these resources and the new turbo-tanker, Strada dei Parchi is committed to keeping the highways safe and passable even in the most severe winter conditions.
The arrival of the machinery was greeted with satisfaction by Engineer Costantino Ivoi, CEO of Strada dei Parchi: “We are amountain highway that touches an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level and on which major works such as 175 viaducts and 54 tunnels insist. The 350,000 euros from the purchase of Supra 4002 is part of the important investment plan for the management of the 2024/2025 Snow Plan, a substantial commitment that allows Strada dei Parchi to face the winter challenges with commitment, innovation and efficiency, always aiming to ensure the safety of customers on the A24 and A25 highways.
