License, the village of Horace, a small jewel of art and nature

Half an hour from Rome, in the heart of the Monti Lucretili Regional Natural Park, Licenza is a small village where Quintus Horatius Flaccus, the great Latin poet, spent his leisure time and enjoyed the pleasures of life in the garden of the villa given to him by Maecenas.

Here he composed the verses of the Odes, Satires and Epodes, the works that made him famous.
