Slow down, you’re on vacation! The new Holiday with Flakes campaign

Once again this summer, Parks Road is joining the 26th National Holiday Road Safety Campaign. This year’s awareness campaign combines the issue of speeding while driving with the need to reduce, at least on vacation, our pace of life.

The campaign is promoted by the Centro Antartide under the patronage of the Senate of the Republic, Chamber of Deputies, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, ANCI – National Association of Italian Municipalities, Emilia-Romagna Region and with one hundred adherents throughout Italy including municipal administrations, highway companies, health companies, businesses, associations, media, radio and the collaboration of testimonials Tessa Gelisio, Patrizio Roversi and Luca Mercalli.

Always obeying the speed limit and generally reducing it can significantly decrease damage in the event of an accident and save lives, particularly if pedestrians are involved; traveling at reduced speeds also allows us better visibility of the road and gives us more time to detect and handle any unforeseen incidents.

But we also want to remember that speed is also that of our daily rhythms, which are often very intense, affecting our health, our well-being and even our ability and serenity when we get behind the wheel. Taking advantage of the summer vacation to unplug and limit stress is good for us and also improves driving alertness.

That’s why “Vacanze Coi Fiocchi” 2025, the national campaign for safety on vacation roads, with the claim “Slow down, you’re on vacation!”, combines two calls in a single awareness-raising action: to give a lift to safety through prudent driving, which precisely in the summer months, as also shown by the most recent data, record the highest number of accidents, and to slow down our pace of life for the benefit of our and others’ health.

Speeding remains one of the main causes of road accidents, often aggravating the severity of them. In fact, more than 8 percent of accidents with fatalities and injuries are caused by speeding, and reducing speed would not only reduce the cost of human lives, but also limit pollutant emissions, noise, and save money. Slowing down the pace of life at the same time during the vacation season has concrete health benefits: men who regularly go on vacation, for example, reduce their risk of heart attack by 32%, a percentage that becomes 50% for women while 89% of people have a significant drop in stress levels after 1-2 days of travel.

At the bottom of this page you can download the leaflet that contains insights and advice on driving safety and the pace of life and reflections on these issues by the campaign’s testimonials, which, alongside Patrizio Roversi, feature Tessa Gelisio and Luca Mercalli.

There are many Italian cities and radio stations participating in the campaign, promoting it by broadcasting the video and radio spot of historic testimonial Patrizio Roversi.

Divided between on-road and online promotion, the campaign also has a Facebook page , an Instagram page and a website to accompany vacationers on a daily basis with information and tips for more pleasant and safer travel, alongside messages from testimonials with the hashtags #HolidayWithFlowers and #VCF25.
