MESSAGE TO TRAVELERS
Dear Travelers,
The A24 and A25 highways have always been a strategic infrastructure for mobility in Central Italy, providing a fundamental axis linking Rome, the four provinces of Abruzzo and the smaller centers of the Central Apennines, as well as efficiently uniting the two coastal ridges of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian seas.
The importance of this network is confirmed by the traffic data: in 2024, compared to 2023, we recorded an increase in kilometers traveled of +3.07%, recorded on both light vehicles (+3.04%) and heavy vehicles (+3.23%). Compared to 2019, the pre-pandemic year, the overall growth was +8.65% (+8.79% for light vehicles and +7.83% for heavy vehicles), a sign of a stable recovery in traffic volumes and the centrality of this infrastructure in the national road system landscape.
One year after the reintegration of Strada dei Parchi into the management of the concession, our efforts have resulted in essential interventions for the safety and efficiency of the network.
We have reopened eight new earthquake-proof viaducts on the outskirts of L’Aquila, improving safety and structural resilience along one of Italy’s most seismically sensitive areas. We are determinedly continuing work to complete the first section of the A24 that complies with the latest earthquake-resistant regulations, located between Tornimparte and L’Aquila Ovest, by the end of the year. This project represents a crucial step in the structural upgrading of the highway network, which is essential to ensure a resilient and safe road system.
In addition, we continue to offer our full support to the government commissioner so that seismic upgrading work on new sections of the A25 can begin as soon as possible, strengthening the entire infrastructure corridor.
Road safety remains our main goal!
In addition to structural interventions, we have introduced new devices throughout the network to protect both travelers and highway operators engaged in daily maintenance and service work. These include microcumuli on horizontal markings at the edge of the roadway and the testing of special reflectors designed to deter wildlife from crossing the road. Pending final authorization for the installation of the protective nets designed with the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park (PNALM), we continue to work to ensure an increasingly safe and efficient road system.
In addition to physical interventions on the network, communication with travelers is a constant priority of ours. Clear, real-time information helps improve traffic flow and the overall travel experience.
For this reason, in addition to the updates provided through press and digital channels (official website and social media), we are developing new tools and services dedicated to customers: a navigable interactive map with traffic and webcam updates and a 24-hour customer care service to provide immediate assistance to those who travel our highways.
We are aware of the responsibility that comes with our role as managers of these key arteries, and that is why we will continue to work with passion and dedication to ensure safe, modern infrastructure that meets the needs of today and tomorrow. The challenges ahead are many, but our mission is clear: to ensure a better, safer and increasingly connected experience for travelers.
Thank you for your attention and trust that you show us every day.
We wish you a safe journey along the Parks Road!
Eng. Costantino Ivoi – CEO Strada dei Parchi S.p.A.
