Donatella Di Pietrantonio: Authentic Voice of Abruzzo and Women

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we want to celebrate Donatella Di Pietrantonio, one of the most powerful and authentic voices in contemporary Italian literature. Born in Arsita, a small town in the Abruzzo hinterland, Di Pietrantonio was able to transform her roots into a universal narrative, giving life to unforgettable female characters.

Her protagonists, often strong and complex women, embody the challenges and contradictions of being a woman, exploring themes such as identity, belonging and motherhood. With her incisive and profound style, Di Pietrantonio has won the hearts of readers and critical acclaim, earning prestigious awards such as the Campiello Prize in 2017 with “L’Arminuta” and the Strega Prize in 2024 with “L’età fragile.

His commitment to promoting reading, as well as writing, is also manifested through his participation in the Jury for the Flaiano International Awards Literature Prize, a leading event in the Italian cultural scene, supported by Toto Holding.

To learn more about his vision and literary journey, we invite you to watch the full video of the debate, “Il Flaiano e lo Strega,” on network8’s “I Fatti e le Opinioni” program, an event moderated by director Carmine Perantuono:

In conclusion, Donatella Di Pietrantonio is an example of how literature can be a powerful tool for giving women a voice and celebrating their strength and resilience.
