Nov. 29, possible disruptions at toll booths due to strike

The National Secretariats of FILT-CGIL and UIL Transport have announced their adherence to the General Strike for Friday, November 29, 2024 , of the “Circulation and Road and Highway Safety” sector, a strike that will also involve workers of the Motorway and Tunnel Concessionary Companies.

Disruptions may therefore occur at toll booths on the A24 (Rome-L’Aquila-Teramo) and A25 (Torano-Pescara) highways from 00:01 a.m. to midnight on Friday, Nov. 29.

The Concessionary Company points out that the highway toll is due by law, so service and operation of automatic payment systems will be guaranteed.

During the course of the day, there may be repercussions on the normal traffic regime with slowdowns, queues and inconveniences to the fluidity of traffic when crossing the toll collection stations, as the gates manned by toll collectors engaged in “manual” toll collection may be closed, depending on the adherence of the aforementioned personnel to the strike in question. Instead, all gates equipped with automatic lanes will remain open.

We would like to remind you that toll payment is due by law and that this obligation can be fulfilled through the use of the dynamic “electronic toll” gates, reserved for users equipped with electronic toll equipment, or through the use of the self-service gates or equipped with automatic cash machines, where it is also possible to pay the toll either with cash (the machines give change) or by using magnetic card readers such as credit cards, ATMs, postamat and prepaid cards. Technical support services will be provided to ensure the proper functioning of these automated systems. An important caveat: on the A24 and A25 highways, the use of Bancomat, Postamat or Viacard cards at toll booths does not involve any bank fees and no personal code is required to be entered. Simply insert the card into the automatic cash machine, which will return it after a few seconds. The toll payment will be visible on the statement that the bank sends to its customer, without any additional charges.

We also inform you that during the strike, during the hours of the heaviest traffic, in order to ensure the conditions of safety in the travel of the highway sections, even those who do not have the Electronic Tolling apparatus will be able to pass on the “yellow gates” dedicated to automatic payment and, although in the absence of the toll collectors, even the gates with only manual payment can be opened to traffic (with green light). In such cases, car license plates will be photographed and, after a few weeks, vehicle owners will receive a payment slip in the mail, which, without any surcharge, can be paid within 15 days, after which penalties will be triggered.

It is important to keep the entry coupon that certifies the route taken and will be useful in case of any toll disputes. If you lose the coupon, you should follow the instructions on www.stradadeiparchi.it in the “SERVICES – Toll” section.
