Eighth of Festiv’Alba, music and theater color summer evenings in Alba Fucens

Festiv’Alba 2024 fills Alba Fucens with sound, and Abruzzo’s magnificent archaeological jewel on the slopes of Mount Velino sews together summer, culture and land promotion in triple strand.

From June 29 to Aug. 19, the festival, sponsored by the Harmonia Novissima cultural association and now in its eighth year, enriches its offerings with a prominent billboard.

Music as the absolute protagonist together with theater are the soul of thick artistic proposals within wonderful places and settings:

  • 9 major music and theater events in theRoman amphitheater of Alba Fucens (1st century AD).
  • 17 concerts of classical and early music in fascinating medieval and baroque churches and abbeys such as San Pietro in Alba Fucens (12th cent.), Santa Maria in valle Porclaneta in Rosciolo (11th cent.), Santa Lucia in Rocca di Cambio (14th cent.), Trinità and Sant’Antonio in Scurcola Marsicana (17th cent.)
  • 4 concerts in Ovindoli‘srural amphitheater
  • 1 high altitude event in Rocca di Mezzo, on the Piani di Pezza

The 31 live, musical and theatrical performances are the result of Harmonia Novissima’s collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Tourism and Culture Department of the Abruzzo Region, Abruzzo Regional Museums Directorate, ENIT National Tourism Agency, Sirente Velino Regional Park, with the network of municipalities of Massa d’Albe, Magliano de’ Marsi, Avezzano, Ovindoli, Rocca di Mezzo, Rocca di Cambio, Scurcola Marsicana, with the support of the Carispaq Foundation, the main sponsor since the first edition.

Opera then, but also ancient theater, symphony, pop and rock concerts, concerts at high altitudes, classical and ancient music. All in a very close connection with archaeology, history, architecture, art, nature and landscape, all within driving distance and within everyone’s reach thanks to the A24 and A25 highways. Exiting at the Avezzano toll booth, in fact, Festiv’Alba is an hour and a half’s drive from Rome, an hour and twenty minutes from Teramo, 40 minutes from L’Aquila and an hour or so from Chieti and Pescara.

It begins Saturday, June 29, with Arianna Art Ensemble’s “The Lands of Ulysses” in St. Peter’s Church and closes Friday, Aug. 9, with Daniele Silvestri in the Roman Amphitheater. In between, a valuable piece of Abruzzo summer not to be missed.
