With their labor and their hands they created one of Italy’s greatest works, the longest double-bore tunnel in Europe. THE EXCAVATION was carried out in full section using the traditional system with theuse of explosives and 7-arm jumbo drills, except in the fault-crossing areas, where the advance was preceded by a small tunnel and half-section excavation techniques.
