It is 104 meters high and stands in the heart of Majella Park straddling the Orta River in Abruzzo. Built in the early 1950s, it is now the highest bridge in central Italy. It is located on the road between San Tommaso, a hamlet of Caramanico Terme, and Salle (PE), just 45 minutes from Pescara and 20 minutes from the Torre de’ Passeri – Casauria tollgate exit.
Because of its height, the work connecting St. Thomas with Salle is now widely used by the Abruzzo Bungee Jumping Association(for info www.bungeejumpingabruzzo.it), which in 2014 was the first association to organize an event dedicated to bungee jumping on the Salle bridge. Pure adrenaline, an extreme sport that, with its strong emotions and the necessary courage, appeals to the many lovers of this activity.
