Discovering Subiaco

Wrapped in the woods of the upper Aniene Valley, Subiaco owes its name to the Latin word “Sublaquem,” which was used to refer to Nero’s Villa, built on the outskirts of the present town. Of the Neronian villa, which was reflected in an artificial lake, it is still possible to recognize the remains belonging to the thermal complex and a nymphaeum.
