As part of the work under Phase III of the Special Commissioner, Attorney Marco Corsini, for structural retrofitting to ensure the seismic safety of the viaducts, it is necessary to carry out, in the absence of traffic, demolish the deck of the westbound carriageway of the Valle dei Fiori Viaduct—located between kilometer markers 137+190 and 137+541, near the Pratola Peligna/Sulmona Interchange—using microcharges.
To address this need, starting at 10:00 p.m. on November 3 until 8:00 a.m. the following day, the section of the A25 highway between the Pratola Peligna/Sulmona and Bussi/Popoli interchanges will be closed to traffic in both directions.
At the time of the blast, scheduled for approximately 6:30 a.m. on November 4 and expected to last about 30 minutes, the following temporary measures will be in effect starting at approximately 6:15 a.m.:
- the closure of the A25 highway at the Pratola Peligna Interchange, including in the direction of Torano;
- the suspension of traffic on the eastbound lane (toward PE) at approximately km 135+100.
The Pratola Peligna/Sulmona–Bussi/Popoli section will remain closed until cleanup and restoration operations on the eastbound lane (toward PE) of the viaduct are completed, with reopening expected by 8:00 a.m.
Consequently, on the days and at the times indicated above, for vehicles coming from the A14/Pescara and heading toward Avezzano/A24/L’Aquila/Rome, will be required to exit at the Bussi/Popoli Interchange, with the option to re-enter the A25 highway at the Pratola Peligna/Sulmona, while vehicles coming from Avezzano/A24/RM/AQ and heading toward A14/Pescara will be required to exit at the Pratola Peligna/Sulmona, with the option to re-enter the A25 at the Bussi/Popoli Interchange, using the SS5 Tiburtina/Valeria in both cases.
