Lake Scanno

It is The lake that separates the mountains of the National Park creating spectacular gorges in the rock, wild and immeasurably beautiful. Lake Scanno, which originated from a landslide on Mount Genzana, is rich in legends and enchanting scenery.

It is known as the “heart-shaped lake of mysteries.” It stretches between the town of Scanno, from which it takes its name, a town in the province of L’Aquila, included in the Abruzzo National Park and Peligna Mountain Community, and the town of Villalago a mountain village also in the province of L’Aquila. It is located in the lower province of L’Aquila among the Marsicani Mountains in the lush Sagittario Valley.
