Wednesday, June 24: Event at Valle Aterno Est on the A24 highway—construction site safety and safe driving are the focus of the European initiative promoted by ASECAP and Aiscat
For the second consecutive year, Strada dei Parchi is participating in the European campaign “(S)he Works, I Care,” promoted by ASECAP and, in Italy, by Aiscat, reaffirming its commitment to the safety of the staff who work daily along the highway network.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, from 9 a.m. until lunchtime, at the Valle Aterno Est Service Area, near the highway exits for L’Aquila—a region that is playing an even more central role in tourist traffic this year thanks to the city’s designation as the Italian Capital of Culture.
As part of this initiative, now in its fourth year, the goal remains to raise awareness among the public about the importance of safety for those working on construction sites and along roadways. Men and women involved in infrastructure maintenance, inspection, and management work every day—often at night and under challenging conditions—to ensure traffic safety, but they are still too exposed to the risks posed by distracted or reckless driving.
During this special morning event, there will be an information booth where “strada dei parchi” staff will meet with drivers and truckers to share useful tips and promote safe driving practices, fostering greater awareness and mutual respect among road users and road operators.

The 2026 edition places special emphasis on long summer trips taken by tourists, commuters, and truck drivers: participants will receive a small gift along with a guide designed to promote safer and more relaxed driving. The guide will offer practical tips for managing fatigue while driving, encouraging drivers to take regular breaks and spend a few minutes doing simple exercises to help restore concentration and well-being during the trip.
The initiative is part of a Europe-wide campaign involving numerous countries and dealerships, with the shared goal of strengthening a culture of safety and promoting increasingly responsible driving behavior.
